National Secretary

JAKE HUANG

Jake is a fintech, blockchain and financial services lawyer, currently working at the Melbourne office of Piper Alderman, where he was also a member of the Diversity & Inclusion working group. He graduated Valedictorian of Melbourne Law School, where he was the International Student Representative of the Law Students’ Society. While at law school, Jake was heavily involved in student advocacy, diversity & inclusion and community building. He presented as a panellist at multiple oriental-day and career panels, and was featured in two promotional videos of the Melbourne Law School.

Jake was an international student and prior to coming to Australia, he did a law degree and practised as a qualified lawyer in China, first at an international law firm then a top-tier Chinese law firm. He specialised in high-profile corporate & commercial work and cross-border transactions. Jake also did a year of exchange in a French university, studying French and European laws.

Jake has been involved in AALA since early 2022, when he started as a National Operations Officer. He then took up the role of the National Secretary Summit and helped put together the National Diversity & Inclusion Summit, which is an annual flagship event of AALA. Jake was elected National Secretary at the end of 2022.
