PETER BUTLER
Peter Butler is admitted in the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory and the High Court of Australia. Before coming to the law Peter worked for a number of years in media, defence and other government agencies.
Peter has spent a significant time in Taiwan, Japan and Thailand, and is also a qualified pilot. In 2003, Peter left NSW for the Territory as a professional aviator for the Commonwealth’s Coastwatch flying and coordinating off-shore and coastal surveillance missions.
Peter’s journalism career has seen him personally interviewing the likes of Michael Kirby, Malcolm Fraser and myriad political and industry leaders, as well as hosting the Morning Show.
Peter has the unique combination of a journalist's ability to uncover the truth coupled with a love for justice and a passion and commitment for advocacy and the rule of law, as well as a nuanced understanding of Territory and Asia-Pacific politics and laws.
Peter has joined the AALA NT Branch Committee to help advocate the objectives and aspirations of its membership within the industry and to the wider public in both local and transnational forums.
