RICHARD NIU

Richard is a solicitor at Behlau Murakami Grant ILP, a boutique litigation firm on the Gold Coast. Richard's practice is focused primarily on criminal law, though he also represents clients in regulatory, disciplinary and family law matters.

Richard graduated from Syracuse University in the U.S. with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Public Relations, Cum Laude. He also holds a Juris Doctor (Distinction Class 1) from Bond University. Prior to relocating to the Gold Coast, he worked as a corporate banker at one of the top-tier banks in Hong Kong for appoximately 4 years.

In addition to acting for clients on a pro bono basis through his firm's well-established Pro Bono Division, Richard has also volunteered to provide legal advice to socially and culturally underrepresented individuals at My Community Legal.

Richard was born and raised in China and has lived in the U.S. and Hong Kong before immigrating to Australia in 2022. He is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese and is keen to promote cultural diversity within the profession.
