ROMAN MICAIRAN
Roman is a barrister practising in Criminal Law, Regulatory Law, Administrative Law, Disciplinary Law and Family Law. Roman believes that access to justice is facilitated by supporting lawyers from diverse backgrounds.
Roman was born in the Philippines. At 6 years old, he and his family immigrated to Australia and settled in the Northern Territory.
Roman commenced law in Darwin as a Judge’s Associate of the Supreme Court of the NT and then as a lawyer with Clayton Utz in Commercial Law and Corporate Law. Roman was subsequently a Crown Prosecutor with the NT Director of Public Prosecutions in Alice Springs for almost a decade.
In 2017 Roman moved to Queensland to take on a role as a Principal Lawyer with the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
Immediately prior to joining the Queensland bar, Roman was a Senior Federal Prosecutor (and on occasions, acting Principal Federal Prosecutor) with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) specialising in fraud, and financial and corporate crime. In between his roles with the CCC and the CDPP, he was a Senior Lawyer with the Brisbane City Council in Litigation, Risk and Regulatory Enforcement.
Roman speaks Visayan/Cebuano (Filipino language). He also speaks Spanish and for three years worked in Peru, Argentina and Colombia with local Non-Government Organisations.
